Thanks... My biggest fear is that is won't work. I guess after so many years of so much failure, it's hard to imagine that something will actually work for me! I'm so scared that I'll screw it up, or it really won't make me feel full, etc. It's just really impossible to imagine something working.

I got my surgery date also. It will be 6/6/07. I have the same feelings and concerns that you have. Excited and nervous all at the same time. Can't wait to get started. I've already started to drinks Protein Shakes and 1 meal a day. Will start on the liquid diet on May 23. Can't believe I have to be on liquids for 2 weeks. :clap2: :clap2:

What you are feeling is soooooooooooooo normal! We ALL experience the same thoughts and emotions.

You are a nurse, the only thing you can really, honestly, sincerely, depend on is your history of education and research. The rest is a bonus.

You'll do fine. Just know, you are not alone!

Thanks! When my surgery was 5, 4 even 3 weeks out, it just didn't seem real. Today officially makes me under the 2 weeks mark, with liquids starting in 6 days... and reality is starting to set in! Along with a lot of excitement and a lot of doubt!

Well, surgery date changed!! It's going to be June 18, 2007. Was disappointed but just glad it's going to happen. Surgeon wanted to scheduled 3 the same day and that's the day everyone else could do it. Getting excited and anxious all at the same time. I have the same feeling that the others have.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
