mommyoftwogirls 75 Posted November 16, 2014 It's me again! So I called my insurance today and asked about the date on my approval letter. It was 11-24-2014.The lady from my insurance that it was my surgery date.I asked what happens if I do not have the surgery on that date? She said then I would have to start the process of submitting my paper work again for approval.I was confused.I haven't even received a phone call from my surgeons.I just found out I was approved Friday night through mail.I did not even know they submitted my paper work.My surgeon said he was going to wait for me to get a new sleep apnea test because my previous one was from 2006 and he thought I was going to be denied because it was to old.I also have diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, and the sleep apnea.I heard someone say that the date was a dummy date they just had to give a date for an approval process.Besides there would hardly be enough time to do the 2 week liquid pre-op.Also what if you got sick and had to reschedule? This doesn't make sense.I am so worried about this.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 16, 2014 The doctors office will handle it. If you received the letter Friday night they might not have been able to call you yet. They have to give the insurance co a date when submitting the request, if your sleep study isn't completed by then, they will contact the insurance co and negotiate for a new date. Don't worry it's not that big a deal. Your doctor's office will be able to get the date changed.
Elode 8,093 Posted November 16, 2014 @@mommyoftwogirls My insurance had a surgery date for me that I had never heard of. I think it's just something the Drs do to submit the paper work. The date they had was not the date I was actually scheduled for. It would Have been the same situation I wouldn't have had enough time to do a 2 week pre-op diet. So I wouldn't worry about that particular date. They want to get the insurance company moving on a decision.
Shari71 85 Posted November 16, 2014 I guarantee you the surgery scheduler called the insurance group with that dos. Don't worry. Everything will be fine. With all of that said. Make sure you call them first thing Monday morning. To verify everything. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Keep me posted

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) You may still have to have a sleep study done. I had one done in 2004 and had to have new one done, but I had already received my precert letter as well. Edited November 16, 2014 by Blerdgirl
