You know i was nervous having surgery. Believe me when I tell you it not a pretty feeling at first. The pain is no joke but i had pain meds my first day and a half and have not had to take nothing since. The worst part is the liquid diet. You are on liquids and purees for a month . I am in no rush it hurts when i take a drink of anything and all the gas man. I had to figure out what works for me drinking from a spoon is the best way to go it less pain going down and you drink in sip which is best. To those who have not had the surgery get ready it gets better it all about a healthier you.

I'm on POD 18 (Post-Op Day 18) -- I can still relate to you. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster those first two weeks. I felt like I didn't own my body anymore (and kind of still don't); it gets better though. Try using a water bottle with a latch mechanism to cut off the amount of Water you can get in to help with the pain. Also try Gas-X strips, they really help. Gas pain was huge for me during week 2. Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
