Hi, my name is Teresa Powell. I had bypass on the 20th of October. I have lost about 40 pounds. I have been over weight for so many years that I decided it was time to do something. I want to ride roller coasters again. I am having the hardest time right now with the liquid diet I am not getting enough Protein in and I can not see to no matter what I do. The shakes are getting old and everything I put in my mouth makes me sick. The Doctor told me to drink Vitamin Water zero's or G2's well the G2's made me sick as a dog and there is only 2 flavor's I can handle of the zero's. I have 4 kids and I get something for me to eat (like soup) and I wake up and they have ate it all. I had such bad heart burn Everyone keeps telling me this will pass and things will be better I am just so ready to be able to eat and not get sick.

(1) How old are your kids? Are they old enough to know that mommy's food is "off limits"? If not, hide it in your room.

(2) I did Isopure rtd Protein clear liquid in a lot of flavors. Each 20 oz bottle had 40 ounces, I mixed it half with Water and sip the 20 oz over 3 hours. I also put a touch of stevia sweetening.

(3) Contact your doctor about the heartburn they can adjust your medicine or even change it. My doctor moved me from generic to Nexium and it seems to be working really well

Hope you feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
