Had surgery on Thursday

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Thursday and came home yesterday evening. I feel way better than I expected, just sore throughout my whole body. My incisions don't hurt much unless I accidentally bump them on something. I ate a few bites of cottage cheese and some pudding last night and it went down with no problem. Still sticking to mostly fluids. My throat is a little sore from anesthesia tube but overall I feel good. Gonna attempt a hot shower shortly hoping it will help with the soreness some. So happy to be finished with the surgery part and ready to move on....

I feel much better than I expected I would. Yesterday was kind of tough with the soreness, but it already fading. I have noticed when I try to eat pudding or something close in consistency I get hiccups. I am assuming that is a sign that I've eaten too fast.

All the best. I had surgery Thursday too, and I am now t able to get 60 oz of liquid down. I do feel a little better each day, but this is tough physically and emotionally. You sound really good, that is inspiring!

Hiccups can be a soft stop signal for some people. I too had to slow down. I still have to slow down eight months out. Stop signals for some people can be: a hiccup, a sigh, a burp. The slower you go the more able you are to notice it. You're doing great!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
