Help! Become sugar intolerant since having my band!

Recommended Posts

Hi there wondering if anyone could please give me some info!!

Here's my situation!! Since having my band my body reacts different too sugar. If I eat sugar it's like my body goes in shock and won't loose any weight. But if I avoid everything with sugar on a daily bases like for two weeks I can sometimes loose up too 4/5 kgs in like 14 days. Meaning I loose a couple grams of weight daily. If I eat any type of sugar I don't put any weight on but just won't loose those couple grams daily. It's hard coz I try be strong and I'm only like 10kgs too my goal weight but it's taking it's time. What could I do or tests or foods too eat that give me that sugar hit but are not real sugar?? It's hard too live everyday without sugar!! Pls help

nowadays it's so easy to do without sugar. When I was first diagnosed as diabetic I thought omg. that means no sugar. and I have a reaction to sugar it's called addiction.. lol. my face does flush and I feel terrible and lethargic so Sugar is not my friend either. look for sugar free products and stay away from any juice drinks or real sugar if possible. There are small amounts of sugar in everything especially anything processed. I also use Truvia for sweetner, it's plant based and much healthier than equal, splenda, etc.

Look at the sugar sources. You body may allow sugar that comes with fruit (not juice) because along with the sugar, you also get a nice dose of Fiber. Fiber is nature's little pot scrubber so you may be able to have fruit and still lose. I don't do fake sugars since I'm allergic to most of them. Being sugar free or low sugar may not be a bad thing.

I was diabetic for 4 years before getting sleeved. I use Sweet N' Low for cold food or drink, Splenda if I'm going to bake, for example, pies.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
