meyouus 415 Posted November 15, 2014 My Band surgeon had me strictly on the South Beach Diet. Are any of you on the same diet after RNY?
tamg26k 479 Posted November 17, 2014 I am 4 months post RNY. Not so much a diet, but a lifestyle change. I do similar to South Beach I guess. Very high Protein and low carb. I probably average around 80-100 grams of Protein per day and about 20 grams of carbs.
Racewalker48 41 Posted November 18, 2014 I am not on any particular diet, just a Protein first, vegetable and small amount of carbs with each meal. I eat 5-6 times per day. I drink at least 64oz of Water per day. My surgeon kept it very simple, and I like that. I have a 80 -100 gram per day Protein goal. That's it. Following this plan, I eat around 1000-1200 cals per day by my calculations.
meyouus 415 Posted December 4, 2014 I was reading Alex's book about the RNY, and he mentions that it is extremely difficult to get in the total of ...64oz. Water, 5-6 mini meals AND 80-100 cms. of Protein. I'm baffled. I know, sip water all day. But how do you get THAT much protein in a meal that's a 1/4C-1/3C? I've heard it is best to eat more protein than drink it. chicken has only so much protein. And post surgery, it's all another question. Am I to expect to drink 60-70+/- mg. Protein Shakes? Do they make them that high in protein? I know pre-op, the natural sugars in, say, banana's is ok in shakes but not after since RNYers don't do sugar. Right? I'm so confused as to how to meet my protein intake. I wanna do it right. Please share your "cocktail" of protein intake, pre and post op. Thank you in advance.
