The time length for pre-op and post-op is a blip on the radar of our lives. Once you are done with surgery you are constantly moving back to "normal." Every day will be better!

I hate to hear that some are hurting so much. I'm now day 6 and doing well. I have lots of gurgles. It's weird, I have pain only when I'm hungry, then I have a bit of Protein and I feel better. I think a lot has to do with the Protein I'm using.

I'm allergic to nutra sweet and can't stand the taste of artificial sweeteners. I've been using Jarrow vanilla and chocolate really good and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup. That's the best.

Also sugar free Jello with vanilla Protein powder. Really good. The recipes say to use unflavored. But that is nasty.

I pray you are right! Right now I'm regretting this surgery big time.

Hang in there Susan! You aren't alone!

Had to go to the ER today at the advice of my surgeon. I was dehydrated and every time I attempted to drink I got the cramps/dry heaves. They filled me up to the brim with fluids and gave me a new med for the heaves. I feel so much better.

Susan909

I was just reading your post from the night before your surgery. You were so excited and ready for this. Now I feel so bad reading your posts, your having so much pain and troubles. I wish I could give you a big hug. I'm 6 days out and this is he best day for me.

I hope and pray you get through this :) it's not easy, but everyday it gets a little better.

Big hugs :)

Thank you.... Your reply helps lift my heart. Tomorrow is a new day and it's got to get better.

This rough patch will end and I'll be back to normal. It's great having these forums to go to for help, support advice. I don't feel so alone.

Take it slow and keep working on Fluid and Protein. You probably won't hit your protein and fluid goals for a few weeks yet and that is fine. Your #1 priority right now is healing. Give yourself time to heal while getting as much protein and fluid in as you can. It gets better everyday and your intake will gradually improve too. Don't be too hard on yourselves! Keep up the great work and congratulations on your surgery!

I'm regretting getting sleeved right about now. I can't tell the difference between head hunger and actual hunger. I am not able to puree anything since it's grossing me out. I'd rather have liquids than baby food. Someone please help and give advice. I'm feeling depressed and hate that I'm feeling like this.

I am being sleeved tomorrow, they are also removing my gallbladder and repairing a hietal hernia. Has anyone had their gallbladder removed at the same time?

Mandy, I was where you are a week ago. Please believe me it will get better. Have someone else puree your food until you can stand doing it. Research recipes on the Internet and you might be surprised to find something that's appealing. There is a web site that I've found very helpful is The World According To Egg Face.

She's a Bari patient also and has tons of great advice and cooking ideas. You really need to be eating/ taking in your fluids and Protein the best you can. I know it's tough, I'm 12 days out and regretted the surgery too until about day 8. Now it's much better and I'm glad I did. Please please hang in there and know this tough part will pass.

I try to distract myself by reading, walking. I know I'm actually hungry when my tummy starts to rumble.

Head hunger is real and so are the cravings. Those also got a lot better within a few days.

Take care, cry if you need too, and remember this part is just for a few weeks. Your good health is for the rest of your life!

I agree. I actually brought makeup and cute PJs to the hospital for Postop. I was in a hospital gown the entire time and could care less what I looked like. The nurse even combed my greasy hair! I was a mess.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
