Miaoreo 134 Posted November 17, 2014 I have one called a Game Winner..... think it is marketed under several different names. They are sold at places like Cabela's and Bass Pro... Almost any brand will work. I would suggest making sure it has variable temperature settings and perhaps a timer. I make Jerky, dry herbs and fruit. The Grandkids LOVE making Jerky and trying different recipies! I'm interesting in getting a dehydrator as well. Looking for recommendations.
jess9395 5,449 Posted November 17, 2014 "Wearing Pro" is the brand. It's a cheap plastic unit, but it works pretty good. ($49) Comes with a little recipe booklet that tells you what ingredients you need for the marinades. I was eating a lot of store bought brands that were pretty expensive and quite a bit of every bag tended to be stale. This Jerky is really good and very high in Protein. If I get good at it, I may invest later in a better dehydrator, but this one works fine for now. http://www.bjs.com/waring-pro-5-tray-food-dehydrator.product.279853 Awesome! Thanks for the feedback! I was wondering if one of the cheaper units would produce decent results for a trial run... Sounds like one will!
