How many incisions (holes) did you have?

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone. I'm four days out and sitting on my couch recovering. It is good to be home.

I was showing my husband my incisions last night and we counted six. Later, I went to the bathroom and because of an itch, I looked again and found another incision. Anybody else have seven incisions?

I'm just curious. I thought they were supposed to do five so I'm surprised there were seven.

:)

Hi there Tashabella,

The incision varies per person which is dependent on size of your body, some surgeons might need get access to your stomach and intestines and made more incisions as a result. I only had 4 incisions for my sleeve.

I had 5.

Congrats on your surgery!

Hope you heal quickly.

Sip, sip, sip those liquids and walk as much as you can.

Blessings,

Kathleen

4 incisions plus the hole for the alien drain tube - so 5 total

Yup, 5: 4 in a row and one a littler higher.

Five. I think. Some have faded and I also had a hysterectomy laparoscopically ten years ago and may be getting those scars confused with my sleeve scars.

Interesting. My doctor was pleased in the time that it took him to do it. We broke some kind of record. It only took him 50 minutes and he said it was because I did such a good job of shrinking my liver.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had seven incisions. There could be many reasons for that. I was just a little surprised.

I am sipping and sipping and sipping. It actually tastes really good, but I'm afraid to take bigger sips so I don't over-do it. I'm moving along on the liquids.

Glad to be home!!!! ("There's no place like home!")

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
