10 months out and having problems

Recommended Posts

Hi I need encouragement and advice. I am 10 months out and starting bad habits...going to starbucks, eating sweets, and not exercising. I am letting my head hunger and emotional eating get the best of me. Any advice would be appreciated. I know I am doing wrong just can't control myself. I have lost 60lbs and still have 15 to go and have not lost in anything in almost 3 months and that is making me upset as well but I know why I haven't lost but that still doesn't help things.

Try to get to an in person support group meeting. Also come up with some contingency plans. Buy a coffee maker and make your own at home. List 10 things you can safely have that will curb your sweet tooth and not sabotage healthy eating. Join a gym or a dance class. Find an activity you like and sign up.

This is entirely up to you. If you don't figure out how to maintain, you will regain and then all this work will have been for naught.

@@acampbell1318 First, take the word "can't" out of your vocabulary because you can and you obviously have. Second, I'm really big on lists. Take time to write out a list or a little "reminder" of why you started this journey in the first place. I get a lot of inspiration from pictures and other people's stories on here, YouTube ect... I can almost swear by the bra and undies pictures. If you feel comfortable take some. Are you content With what you see? Just know you do have the power to change it. Now stay away from the junk and Go kick some butt! You can do this!

You took the first step: you recognized an issue and I'm sure you are going to start looking for answers to do something about it.

Make a list of food items you are eating and health habits you dont like. Then write down what you do instead. Pin it to your refrigerator door.

For example:

Starbucks Mocha Frappachinno - Homemade version using coffee ice cubes, vanilla soy milk, and sugar free chocolate Syrup.

chocolate candy - sugar free hot chocolate

Skipping exercise - Walking on break at work, different body exercise each day while brushing teeth morning and night.

Give yourself a reward for making the list, and rewards for sticking with it.

You have gotten some good ideas but I vote for a "reset". Go back to doing what you used to do. Track on my fitness pal? Go to the gym 4x a week? Whatever it was ...force yourself to pretend you are 4 months post op and really working that sleeve you have been successful and can most certainly continue to be!

Usually if you can just stick to a moderate plan of eating and exercise for three days ( one hour at a time!) then it gets easier after that. Take it one hour at a time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
