I never feel full...

Recommended Posts

Generally the feeling that I experience when eating is as follows:

First - I start eating and the food is enjoyable.

Second - I reach a point where the food begins to taste horrible. It destroys the pleasure of the meal that I am eating. My body begins to react strangely. I might begin to sneeze, or my eyes Water or my nose drips.

Third - If I try to eat anymore, I slide into dumping syndrome where I run to the bathroom and vomit or have dry heaves, etc.

So I would say that the feeling of being full is in reality the point where my body says "Don't eat another morsel or I will punish you." And it says it loud and clear.

Also coming into play here is appetite. The beast of hunger that was always constantly gnawing at my bones before surgery is gone. And in a way it has set me free.

I'm three weeks post op and I never get that full feeling. I just eat the amount they tell me and stop. Anyone else experience this?

Yes!!!! That's exactly what I do. And I also forget to eat, which is so strange for me.

Wow James that is rough. How far out of post op are you?? I don't feel hungry anymore either. Which makes me to forget to eat.

I am 18 months post-op from RNY. Generally I never get to the third stage. Once is enough. Once you feel the second stage, you know when to stop eating.

Well good thing you learned how to read you body signs. So far I haven't found anything that makes me sick. But I've also been super picky on what I'm putting in because even saying "dumping syndrome" grosses me out. Lol. I'm heading into my 4th week.

I am currently at almost 7 weeks post op. Thankfully I have not experienced dumping syndrome at this point and will continue to do everything in my power to ensure that does not happen. I have to remind myself to eat at meal times and then when I do I only have to eat a few fork or spoonfuls to already have a sense of being full. Sometimes I feel like why did I go to all this trouble to make this for myself for a few small bites.

Then I remember how awesome it is that I am losing all this weight and doing so well so quickly.

Oh I remember that stage. I'm going into week four. I actually got permission to start the mushy foods early because when I was on full liquid, I was getting light headed and dizzy multiple times a day.

7 weeks out, do not get the same "full" feeling as before. I get the hiccups when I'm full and I may feel full in my throat. Haven't got sick yet or felt dumping or sliming, just uncomfortable if try to eat too much.

Hiccups and sneezing means that you are in the warning stage before dumping. "Dumping syndrome occurs when the undigested contents of your stomach move too rapidly into your small bowel. Common symptoms include abdominal cramps, nausea and diarrhea."

Not uncommon. You're not eating full, solid foods yet. When you get to the full food stage it likely won't be a problem anymore.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
