5 days post op, serious bathroom time...

Recommended Posts

So is it normal that darn near every time I move or lay back in recliner I get doubled over is stomach gas pains and then I need to go to restroom where most time is a loose movement. Legs and back giving out from qty of times I have to be hunched over on the throne each time and so many times. Is this typical for the frequency as things start working back to normal? I can go for from a restroom

That only happened to me once and I felt like it was something I ate. What kind of Protein are you taking in? Some sugar-free products do that to me which is why I've tried to have most my protein not be in shakes.< /p>

It was either that or I didn't go for several days. I'm 5 months out and it's still that way some days.

Just make sure to keep your fluids going in because you don't want to get dehydrated.

I was sleeved on 11/4. While I belched and burped a lot the day of surgery and the following day, I was not able to pass gas until the day after surgery after sipping on a warm (not HOT) vegetable broth. It got the ball rolling fast on the gas, and as disgusting as it is, felt immediate relief from gas pain after tooting. I also did a quick Fiber drink (clear liquid, no taste)(and not just the laxative stuff) to clean out from some of the anesthesia and all. It helped with the loose stools and got rid of a lot of gas. It was miserable for a little while until it worked, but after that, things calmed down. But most importantly, get up and walk walk walk the equivalent of 10-15 laps back and forth in your longest hallway in your home and hopefully you'll get some much needed gas relief. Most, if not all, the gas in my tummy has already dissipated, and I have had no nausea with foods. Hope this helps!

My surgeon's rules were: no more than 5 episodes of diarrhea per day. More than that and I needed to call. It's common to have diarrhea post-op, but too much greatly increases your risk of dehydration. Fluid in/fluid out. But, no more than 5 times a day. I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I passed gas. And, once it started, it didn't seem to want to stop ... until the diarrhea started. Learn from me, padawan ... never trust a fart.< /p>

I am 3 days post op and yesterday the diarrhea began. Excessive. I called today and they recommended coconut Water. It has a lot of potassium. I just got some and today the diarrhea is slowing down. It it continues past Friday I can take Imodium. I certainly hope it goes away. I won't be able to go anywhere lol

I had diarrhea for 7 days straight. I drank a coconut electrolyte Water to stay hydrated. While not pleasant, I felt it was a better alternative to Constipation because it helped get a LOT of gas out!

I had diarrhea for couple of days after surgery and called the dr's office. They said it was normal. After that came the most horrifying constipation!!!!! I think I found a way around that, I drink Yacult every night and have a Greek yogurt Activia every day. So nice to just wake up and go to the bathroom without a struggle and without taking that awful milk of magnesia!!!!

I have a lot of gas but no diarrhea or Constipation. My surgeon started me on a probiotic the night of surgery and then twice a day since. I had surgery 11/11 and one bowel movement since surgery and that was yesterday. It was the easiest bowel movement I have had in years . I take daily narcotics for chronic pain and have for a few years so constipation has been a constant companion. I sent my hubby to the store today to buy a bottle of Probiotics as recommended by my surgeons office. If it is that easy to make a bowel movement a regular event I will take it every time!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
