Having trouble eating, getting pills in, and fluids. How do you do it?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how to get all the food, pills, Protein, and fluids in. I can only eat two bites of anything. Two sips if fluids. I am trying to take a multi- Vitamin, B12, probiotic, omnezorle, Calcium, Fiber, mira lax, and two other capsules for a bladder issue I have. I have to wait at least 30 minutes between pills or I get too full. So I never really eat food. There is no room. I drink Protein Shakes but have only been able to get one down because it takes so long to drink it all. I am three weeks out. I feel I need to be eating real food with protein but so far that has been two bites of egg. How do you all get it all in?

patience grasshopper...this will come...and then you will miss these days :)

focus on the water...then the Protein right now

If you are truly concerned, see/call your doctor.

It does take time...it says your surgery date was in October...so not sure how far out you are...but those first few weeks (month) you will have to adjust a lot...so just give it time...follow as best you can

In the first few weeks you're still getting over the surgery and there can still be a lot of swelling. Things will feel weird and uncomfortable, and gurgly noises will happen. But if it continues, or if you're really concerned -- call your doctor! Post-op care is part of what you paid for!

Recovery will vary, but everything will go down fine in time. As @@BigGirlPanties said, focus on Water and Protein first. It will take you quite a bit of sips and little bites to get the minimum in and that's ok. It seems like a pain at first, but everything will start to go down easier. For me, I was able to get down 100oz of liquids within four days after surgery while others take more than a month. Remember, they didn't seal up your throat, so it'll all still go down. You'll just filling up your tummy faster.

The transitions from liquids to mushies and then from mushies to solids will help you learn your personal tolerance and quantity limits.

Are you taking multi pills? You should be on chewables or liquid vitamins.< /p>

I bought EVERYTHING in liquid form. Multi Vitamin, B12, Biotin, Calcium, fiber, etc. Enough so that I have about six weeks of liquid supplements. I just figured that would be enough time for swelling to go down. But I will probably buy more and take them longer than that.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
