So here I am, a month and a half post-sleeve...I've only lost about 30 pounds...thought I'd lose more. The scale sort of fluctuates from one day to the next, so I'm not sure what to think. I'm not really pooping much...going to deal with that soon! But I would have thought getting back into the routine of working, and working out, while following the diet, that I'd lose more.

Why is it sooo slow?

Perspective, 30lbs in 6 weeks is ALOT! That's about twice as much per week than the average dieter. I'm 3 & 1/2 months out & have only lost 43lbs since surgery day (55 total) Take a step back, you're doing great!

I do the same thing. I loose a pound or two & then nothing for a day or two. I guess this is just the way my body deals with this change in eating habits.

30 pounds isn't bad. If this is stressing you out then don't weigh everyday. We are all different & handle the scales differently. I weigh every day but I don't freak out if the scale goes up a pound. Some people only weigh once a week. You will notice a big loss of inches in your body. I've gotten rid of some many clothes that my closet is looking a little bare. LOL

I'm thinking about digging a giant hole, crushing my scale into tiny bits, and then putting those bits into said hole. Everyone gets so frustrated when the scale doesn't move, and that can't be healthy. It would take massive strength, but I'm seriously considering only being weighed at my surgeon post op visits at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. I'm looney to think I'd EVER be ok with that, but these posts remind be that it's an inevitable part of the process. Look for NSV's. Those are a much more fun way of feeling successful.

Thanks ladies! My uniforms for work are pretty loose now...even the ones that were snug pre-op. So much so I can't find all my pockets sometimes. Lol. I know I could be putting on muscle now that I'm biking again after my 6 weeks away. I guess 30 in 6 weeks isn't bad. Lol.

30 in 6 weeks is more than a 1/2 lb a day! Imagine if you did that for a year!!!

Sounds like one and it's your body's way of protecting itself. It's pretty sure you're trying to kill it right now and it's in survival mode. KEEP ALL THE FATS! ;)

Don't forget to take measurements too. That's saved me from killing the scale a few times!

I thought that I had hit the plateau also. I would weigh myself every morning, then freak out when the scale did not move. I was worried so I called my doctor. My doctor explained the weight loss as going down a flight of steps. He said you will lose some, then level out for a while, then lose some etc. So I haven't looked in about a week. I am waiting a few more days to look.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
