No, I don't have a december surgery date yet. I can hardly wait. I still have my last support group and nutritionist appointments to go t nov 25th. hoping right after that they can schedule it. i just had gallbladder surgery nov 7, but my dr says it should be no problem to be on schedule for my gastric bypass surgery.

Good luck to you I hope you get your December date. I'm in a pinch to get my surgery before end of the year. I've already met my deductible and out-of-pocket expense for the year and I don't want to have to do it again next year so that's why am pushing for surgery in December.

Good to hear your gallbladder surgery won't affect your December gastric bypass surgery. How long is recovery for that?

I just had a flareup of calcific tendinitis in my left shoulder, can't move my left arm at all and I'm starting physical therapy tomorrow. I'm hoping that I'll be able to have full range again before my surgery.

I've been navigating this forum A little bit but due to the shoulder thing I can't read through as many topics as I'd like. Also typing with one hand is a little difficult lol

I have seen a ton of requests for a Facebook group for December sleevers, so I created one. The name of the group is:

BP December Sleevers & Mentors

The group is a closed group, and will only be for those of us on BP that are being sleeved in December. Also if you have a mentor you are welcome to invite them as well.

You can find the group very easily by just searching by the group name, so please come and join!

Let me know if you have any problems.

Michelle

I know all psychologists are different, but mine pretty much just asked me LOTS of questions pertaining to the band. She went over the benefits, as well as the risks and just wanted to make sure that I understood what I was getting into. She did ask some questions about my past (have I had any kind of family trauma, have I ever been treated for any mental illnesses or depression) things like that, but mostly asked how I am going to change my lifestyle after having the surgery and made sure that I fully understood the changes that would have to be made in my life. I guess some people go into a depression when they're deprived of food. Most obese people are food addicts and it's a big shock to not be able to eat like you're used to. But I would just be completely honest with him/her and let them know that you are fully aware of the lifestyle changes that you will have to make and let them know that you're ready to make those changes. Hope I've helped a little. Good luck!

The link doesn't work ????

I am having the Gastric Bypass. Just got my surgery date yesterday! December 23rd! What a Christmas gift! I'm so excited, yet so nervous! I had a blood blot in my lung a little over a month ago and am now on blood thinners most likely for the rest of my life. I also had a blood clot in my leg last year that traveled to my lung. So, just nervous with the history of blood clots and surgery. I am so so excited though! I am so ready to get healthy! God has blessed me and gotten me through so much, I know he will this surgery as well! Its all in God's hands! I look forward to hearing from others who are having surgery in December too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
