My surgery is Monday at 7:30am. I am getting a little anxious and just wish it would be over! I am ready to transform into a beautiful swan! I went to the doctor last Wednesday and of course they scare you to death with all the possible complications. I wanted a Big Mac & Super sized fries to calm my nerves. Instead I ate pickles (they are on my approved pre-op list). I got thru the hump and today spent the day shopping with my Mom (her 65th anniversary was today) who is 88 yrs old and gets around better than I do. One of my listed goals I have for myself, is to lose this weight so that I can get around better and be able to help my parents if they need me. I love them both and they have always been there for me. :)

This may be late in the discussion, but my favorite Protein Powder is Syntrax Nectar. They have a lemon tea one that mixes well with any sugar free lemonade or tea that is my new favorite. I do keep it in a double insulated thermos, because it's coor doesn't make me think tea but it mixes well. They have a great Cookies and cream and Peanut Butter cookie. They are reasonably priced and they have 100 calories, 23 grams of carbs, and 0 fat or carbs. Yummy!!

Vitamin Shoppe or mybariatricpantry

Vitamin shoppe has sample sizes and my bariatric pantry has sampler packs to order. I have only not liked one flavor I tried and it was calypso cooler or something. I mixed it with Water no additional and it was just too weak. Tasted like a pina colaada though so I bet it could be good a little stronger with skin milk and a touch of pineapple juice.

I think I mentioned 23 g Protein and 0 fat.

I really like making shakes and coming up with new combos

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
