Protein pudding not tolerated

Recommended Posts

So last night I thought I would try sugar free Jello Unjury Protein chocolate pudding.it how's as allowed in full liquid diet in the first 2 weeks post op. Big mistake. Made me feel Ill instantly and had uncomfortable gurgle gas sounds and feelings coming up my esophagus. This was after only a couple of half teaspoons of it. Still have some of that going on this morning. It was the first non liquid state item I have had. Anyone else have a problem with pudding early on?

I haven't tried pudding yet. I don't think it's a big deal. Just try something else.

I was not allowed pudding on full liquids. I didn't try anything of that consistency until a couple weeks post op. Just because something is allowed on your plan doesn't mean your sleeve is ready for it. Someone once said, and it's so very true, "Sleeves can't read the paperwork." That also doesn't mean that in a week you'll have problems with pudding. I would put it back on the shelf, back up to only liquids for a few days, and then try again. With you being only a few days post-op, your main focus is fluids. Then Protein. And, managing your pain. That's all you have to worry about right now.

You may have problems with with a lot of things early on until you learn what is tolerated. I was super excited to eat my first scrambled egg about three weeks after surgery. Well my sleeve wasn't. I was in such distress I had to lay down and will myself not to throw up. I vowed never to eat eggs again, and went back to my soothing Cream of Wheat. Now, I can eat eggs just fine. If something doesn't go down well, just move on.

I had to Water down my pudding with milk until it was thin. I don't know if you tried that. I was told nothing thicker than a milkshake and i probably made it thinner than that.

I just do it for the flavor. Nothing else seems to taste good in the liquid phase.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
