Pre-op liquid diet = achy legs?

Recommended Posts

I'm on day #4 of my liquid diet and I've been battling a bit of a headache, but my leg muscles just ache! I almost feel like maybe it's low sodium... I'm nervous because I start my clear liquid diet tomorrow, so I feel like it's only going to get worse (surgery is on Thursday).

Thoughts or suggestions??

Low-carb can make you need potassium. Potassium should help with leg cramps.

I've been doing low carb for about 3.5 months, but that makes sense. When I've had low potassium in the past, my arms have ached. I'll go take some potassium (I have a supplement) and hopefully tomorrow is better. Thanks!!

Coconut Water is good for legs cramps, it's full of potassium. Not everyone likes the taste but if you get the plain kind it should count as a clear liquid.

I've tried coconut water before and it's totally not my thing. I'm not too picky on most things, but that is one I just haven't been able to embrace. :(

I understand it's not everyone's cuppaa. I must say however, not all brands are equal. I like some better than others. Gatorade and sports drinks have potassium but they are full of dyes and other junk.
