Scar cream anyone?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering if anyone uses any thing on the surgery scars? My husband bought me Mederma advanced and Vitamin E oil. I just had surgery A week ago but I put it on. It's not like I'm going to be competing in any bikini contest but it would be nice to have them so visible. Does/did anyone else use anything and did it help?

You might try Jergens "skin firming". It was recommended to me by a friend. You might also look it up on Amazon.com and read the reviews to see if it might be for you.

Scarfade gel. It's not cheap. a tube runs about $50, but it does work. I first used it for facial scars I had from shingles.

I get a prescription cream from my dermatologist, since I get horrible scars that need a little help to fade away. My body produces excess collogen when it heals. Not fun. For me, it's cheaper to get a prescription, than it is to buy over the counter. When I've tried Mederma, it actually irritated my scars. I asked my hubby if scars bothered him at all. He said, "I dig chicks with scars." Love him! <3

My dermatologist prescribed the scarfade gel but said most insurances don't cover it. I tend to keloid and was really self conscious because the shingles literally ate holes into my face.

It was. Shingles is painful facial shingles is even worse because the skin on your face is thinner.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
