tammy916 3 Posted November 10, 2014 I am 7 days away from having the gastric sleeve. The liquid diet is not to hard (yet) but in my head I am having a war. Last night I felt as though I was grieving big meals and over eating. I know that sounds crazy and I know that's why I am in the position I am today. I know this is not a cure all surgery and I still have to put the work in for it to work. I fear failure because I have failed at every diet I have attempted. I can not imagine myself thin because I do not remember a time I was thin. I can look back at pictures and see when I was thinner but in my head at that time I thought I was huge. I think most of this is just pre-jitter worries and hoping they are all normal feelings. Really hoping I can get thru the next 7 days of liquid diet without getting to grouchy. I am sure as time gets closer I will be extremely nervous for the actual procedure and fearing pain. Just gotta stay positive and tell myself it is all worth it in the end. Comeflywithme 402 Posted November 10, 2014 Hey there.... don't be nervous, rather try to be EXCITED!! The surgery itself is a quick procedure and the aftermath is really not bad at all. The "bad" lasts only maybe 4 to 5 days, one week out you'll feel GREAT!! As for the "mind food war" thing, that too will go away. Once you start losing the weight, and you see how AMAZING you feel (and look too), that will take a back seat. You're always going to want and crave food, but you'll think differently about how you go about eating and you will be ok with that because you're going to be feeling sooooo good, that you will never want to go back to the "old you"! Remember to stay hydrated after surgery, and WALK WALK WALK! It helps the gas discomfort tremendously! Good luck, stay positive, don't be afraid, it GETS BETTER AND BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BigGirlPanties 957 Posted November 10, 2014 should I just say "ditto" ??? I was more excited than nervous...I was so READY to get my tool and become a more healthy person... I could barely walk with all that weight on my joints (knee surgery is next)... what you are feeling is pretty common... good luck!
4me4them 381 Posted November 10, 2014 I am right there with you! Well, actually I'm 2 weeks behind you...I start my liquid diet next Wednesday. I just recently started the unhelpful dialogue in my own head....what happens if this doesn't work... I'm trying hard to overcome the negative spin on things....so far I'm only batting 50 50....
