Fill or No Fill

Recommended Posts

I was wondering. I just got a fill on 4/16 but I'm still eating everything normal? The other night I was able to eat 3 1/2 pieces of pizza, also yesterday I was about to eat 2 casear turkey wraps, this is not normal, I shouldn't be able to eat of this, right? I called to make my fill appointment and they told me that 2 months is the suggested time to get my next fill so I made the appointment for June 13, should I make it sooner because I've already gained 5 lbs from my last fill, something just isn't right, I should be loosing. Also does anyone know why people with the band should avoid caffeine (not soda's), because I drink the Crystal Light packets with caffeine for added energy and I just read that I shouldn't drink caffeine, why is that? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:help:

Hi There,

While everyone is different. It sounds like you are able to eat much more than you should be. My surgery was 3/19, I received my first fill 4/19 and got my 2nd fill today. I suggest expressing your concerns with your doc and they might see you sooner. If they still say no, be sure to ask why!

As for your caffeine question... my RD said no caffeine right before or after surgery but I can have coffee, tea, etc now. Again, I can only recommend you ask your doc's office their reasons.

Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
