Anyone in St Louis, Missouri!

Do you attend support group meetings? If so, which group? Do you find them helpful?

I live in STL. I had my surgery on Oct 9th and so far have no attended the support groups. I am confused on what to eat because I went through True Results for approval and then attended My New Self nutrition program. They are very different on the foods you can eat. I'm very confused right now. Let me know if you find a support group that helps. I feel like I've hit a wall and have not had much loss in the past 2 weeks. Thanks!

I had RNY in July through My New Self and am doing pretty good. I have yet to attend a support group but was hoping to find a good one to attend.

Hi! I'm in StL, and was sleeved at my new self in August. I haven't been to any support groups, but I'm also interested in hearing other people's experiences.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
