Hello,

Sleeve was 12 days ago. I got my period about 1am today...1st since surgery. All I've had is pudding, sip of smoothie & sip of Soup, slept almost all day. Diarrhea started an hour ago & won't stop. Last night I was at church dancing?!?! Is this normal for your first period after surgery? I feel horrible. I'm so confused, I've been feeling GREAT!!

I am beyond the period thing, but did alternate between diarrhea and Constipation the first six weeks. At ten months out everything is a comfortable normal most days.

Your period causes a release of hormones, one of which stimulates having to go poop. You might not have correlated it before or noticed, but yeah, your period and the hormones are likely to give you diarrhea. And add that to a liquid diet, consider it double trouble.

I got my period 3 days after my surgery and I still have it 3 months later. I saw my gyn yesterday and did some testing. So far she doesn't know if it's related to surgery but I also have a nexplanon as birth control. I don't know why I'm still bleeding ????????

I had my period the week before my surgery, a week of respite, then I got a second one. Very weird. I asked my surgeon and she said it's not uncommon. Apparently the stress of the surgery can do weird things to your hormones. I'm off it now!

I was the same way. Tomorrow will be one year and my periods have not been normal since surgery. I've had test and changed birth control, they still don't know why. I'm not bleeding everyday anymore, but start spotting so I have to wear a pad daily. I hope they can figure something out for you, cuz it sucks!!

I got what I thought was my period 12 days after my surgery. I was pretty excited cause it was so light and only three days.

Well, surprise surprise 15 days later I have it again and all HOLY HELL it is heavy. (sorry if TMI) It is finally slowing down and I hope will be done soon.

But on a positive note, I did lose 4.8lbs this past week. And in the past I don't normally lose when I have my period. :)

I am hoping next month will go back to being lighter and more like they were before surgery.

Sounds like fun! I haven't had a normal period since I got my IUD almost 2 years ago. I go months without one then get one and either it's a few hours long or a couple weeks long smh. I'm not looking forward to this part.

Mine have been very different since surgery. I had surgery September 15th and I've had 3 periods since then. Usually I start every 27-29 days for 5 days, *very* heavy the first two days. The time between periods is now getting shorter, 19 days between the last one and I only spotted for 2-3 days. Very weird.

Btw, I also had the diarrhea thing going on several times a day in the beginning. That finally stopped and now I sometimes go a day without going. Especially if I'm not careful to keep my Water up.

I'm almost 4 weeks out and still no period. Still waiting. I've been unintentionally acting kind of cranky, tho, so I suspect it's on the horizon.

I started mine the very next day after surgery, talk about being miserable lol. My cycle has been messed up ever since my surgery though. My second months post op, I didn't have a period. Third month I did though:)

Yes mine 2 weeks early and brutal! First one lasted 2 1/2 weeks. It's been that way ever since. Thought it was just me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
