Pre-op, I was doing 35 minutes on the elliptical at a moderate pace every other day and strength training all the other days. Since getting sleeved, I've been limited to walking which is frustratingly slow and boring even while watching netflix and listening to music on my phone. I decided to go to the gym to today and hit the treadmills. I did 35 minutes alternating between 2.5 mph and 3 mph. I feel great, maybe a little tired but really great.

I was thinking of trying the elliptical once my incision are fully healed (they are practically heal but still a little sore on the largest) and possibly a recumbent bike. Has anyone else found gym equipment that works for them early in the post op process?

I was on the bike, treadmill and elliptical 5 days post op. But if the incisions are still bugging you, you might need to just grind it out on the treadmill until everything feels better.

It's great to hear you guys are back at the gym already. Woo Hoo!

I went back too 9 days post op. I have been walking an hour a day (except twice) since my Oct 27th surgery.

I find myself being able to go faster and faster every time I go to the gym. This last time I even tried running slowly for a few minutes. LOL

I always feel better afterwards!! Gotta make it a lifetime change, might as well get to it!! :)

Yea, I'm 2 weeks post today and my incision pain is completely gone which is weird because just yesterday they were sore....??!?! I'm going to try the elliptical tonight and see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks post op for me. I went back to the gym last Thursday and walk but hate it, I want to do the elliptical so bad but my surgeon said 6 weeks. Said even though the incision might not hurt he's more concerned about them healing inside. said the twisting of the torso he does not want since that can pop a stitch and that scares me but I still want to do the elliptical so badly. For now I do the treadmill and stair master.

I started with the treadmill after my surgery and eventually the elliptical.

I do primarily Water aerobics. I had to do walking either at home or treadmill for 2½ - 3 weeks. Once the incisions were healed I resumed water aerobics.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
