The first month is definitely the worst! It will get better soon. I am almost 4 months out now, and it is great! You will have tons of energy, and feel better than you have felt in years!

Your post could literally have been from me. I was sleeved 10/20 and every single thing you said, i felt! I was so bored of being cooped up that all i could think about was pizza, cheeseburgers, and french fries. The cravings were so hard. I also felt like nothing could ever be normal. I wouldnt be able to go out with friends etc. I turned a corner a little when i started looking up recipes for the next stage. I started realizing it was totally possible to make a meal that both my husband and myself could enjoy! I'm currently in my soft foods stage. My nut said anything I dont need teeth for. So the other night i made home made turkey meatballs. Just added spaghetti for my husband! I was able to eat two small meatballs and then I was totally satisfied and my husband loved them! It helps the mind to find things you can make that wont feel like your depriving yourself! Check out pinterest! I find tons of sleeve recipes on there! Also find a hobby! Something you can do to keep your mind busy while youre stuck inside staring at the walls! I worked on crafty xmas gifts! Just something to keep my mind off all the gross food i wished i could eat! :) good luck!

So I was sleeved October 30 so I'm pretty new.

And I don't so much regret this surgery but I think I regret it because I can't eat the foods I love I can't eat what my boyfriend is eating I can't go out to eat yet. And I'm just feeling down. I'm experiencing GERD which sucks. I hate having to be on a schedule Protein 2 hours before and after meals I can't drink Water like I want to (big gulps) I feel like right now it's all about the I can't rather then the I will do.

Also I'm pretty bummed because I just want to do zumba and lift weights but I have to wait for a month and it's way too cold out to walk outside and I'd I'm home forget about it. Also I don't return to work till the 14 so I've been pretty sad because I get bored and that gives me enough time to discuss with myself how I just want a large pizza extra cheese. So yeah. This was more of a rant and I'd love input maybe to help me feel better.

You'll be fine. This is why it's called a lifestyle change. You have to change and relearn so much of how you previously lived.

I think I had a jump on some things because I'm a vegetarian with multiple food allergies. I often ate differently than my friends and family. Processed foods also triggered my allergies. After one bad allergic reaction that caused anaphylaxis and caused the ER doctor's to put me into a medically induced coma, I realized I had to take things seriously.

Instead of thinking about what you can't have, think about what you can have. Even better think of the things that a thinner you will be able to do. Those fast foods and take out you love? Start doing research on how you can remake those things only healthier.

Missing zumba? Do it at home. Check your cable provider for On Demand work outs.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I don't eat fast food like McDonald's burger King taco bell. Things like that I don't eat but chain restaurants and take out I loveee but I've gotten over it. I'm almost done puree food so I'm happy about that. I did do zumba at home because my concern was I'd pop a stitch or something so I did it slow but I could do it just fine. I'm better now but I feel like I can eat more then I should. And I am bad I have a bite of things I shouldn't like the chicken from my b.f chicken cheese steak and like now I had one flaming hot cheeto so I'm not a saint I'm human but I try not to cave in all the way.

It's crazy how much our minds need to be rewired. I'm 4 weeks out and having cucumber and boneless chicken thigh. Nestea zero is great and flavored water. I make home made Soups. I've had 1 slice of toast. Potatoes are fine. It's hard cause I fill up on Protein and it's all I focus on.

I know i didn't think it'd be this hard. When I was on the preop diet I almost cried because I wanted popcorn and I'm like what the hell I'm really about to cry about food which made me realize I really had a food addiction

Thanks for your response. Maybe I'll try zumba at home and see if I can handle it. My mom is really old school and feels like I shouldnt be moving at all haha.

Wait! Your MOM did your surgery?? WOW!!!

Yeah, uhmmm.... HA!

Move your body, you will feel better. You will eventually be able to eat. You will eventually be able to drink. (Well, I can't and I'm 18 months out, but MOST people can.) Find a hobby to master in the next few days. Knit some scarves for Christmas. Hell! Get your Christmas shopping done while you are off! Shopping, walking, big job done, THREE WAY WIN!!

You'll be fine. And much thinner by the new year!!!

Sometimes I cry but then I think about the 50 pounds I've lost. food is fuel. ...I say that a lot. It's not meant to fill a void or Celebrate. We use food for all the wrong things. I don't mind the portions but I miss pop even though I rarely drank it. It's a roller coaster ride but it's about getting healthy fir life. My doc said I'll most likely be under 300 by the new year. That excites me!!!!

@@Aribay1 I was sleeved on the 30th! As long as I don't see it or smell it I'm good. My son brought a pizza home one day and I wanted to lick it. It smelled so good.

I'm still on liquids. I start puree tomorrow. so frustrating. I want to chew something. I know most of it is in my head because if I didn't have to be aware of getting Protein in I wouldn't think about food. But sitting on the sofa counting the amount of liquids and Protein I see commercials and my brain thinks hmmmmm.

I know I've been going stir crazy. I just got released to drive yesterday. I am willing to drive anyone anywhere right now.

In class yesterday my teacher suprised us with a movie and she brought popcorn for us! My absolute weakness!!!! The smell was driving me crazy!!! I cried inside but I survived. Slowly it's getting easy but not fast enough.

I totally know how you feel. Any time anyone invites me to the movies I go. Everyone knows I go for the popcorn. I'll see any movie but I have to have popcorn! I can't imagine going to the movies right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
