Must have been a typo. It's not the 15th yet. How are you feeling?

Hi, I had my sleeve done on the 7th. Came home yesterday. The first 2 days were awful! But by the 3rd morning I felt like I had turned a corner. How come nobody talks about that drain coming out? It was horrible. Otherwise, I am glad to be home. No problems so far with keeping things down. I got a shower in today and that helped a lot.

I am in Wisconsin and in the middle of a snowstorm. I guess I got discharged just in time!

Hi doggiemama, I never had a problem with any drainage. But my second day post opt I was really sick and could not keep liquids down. My Dr kept me inpatient an extra day. Next day I felt fine. The only problem I've had since I came home is at night. Seems that u get really hungry while sleeping an I wake up in pain. I am okay after I drink a little Water. I am hoping that goes away one I get to the puree phase. I am in pittsburgh pa it is pretty nice today but that is to change soon. So nit ready for the winter weather.

There were two bad things about my surgery experience... the long panty hose things they make you wear... seriously socks would have been better in my opinion and then the drain coming out. It's a feeling... I'd describe it as an empty feeling.

Also, forgive me for going off topic but did any guys spring an erection when they make you put that gown on? I was so embarrassed by this. They said everything off, robe on... I couldn't get it to go away so I put my underwear on and then the nurse couldn't get the words out in English, then she saw why and just smiled and walked away. I know they were putting me out and I heard one of the guys say oh it'll go away in a minute and then I woke up with surgery done. At least I can laugh about this now.

I felt like I was going through puberty all over again LOL. So I guess we'll call it 3 things.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
