nprcowboy 533 Posted November 9, 2014 I am 3 days post op. When should I start using gasx strips? I know it doesn't help with air from surgery but should I start taking now? Will that help with burping and tummy gas? That throw up feeling I get from having to burp, will it help that? How often and when do intake them? I'm doing well just a lot of pain from gas and soreness in abdomen. I am walking as much as I can.
alwaysvegas 702 Posted November 9, 2014 My gas cramps subsided greatly after the third day and I began passing the gas and burping. I started taking Gas X strips in the hospital. They didn't help with the gas cramps, but walking got things move. And by moving I mean flatulence...alot of it. Then I felt much better. I do a strip once a day in the morning after I eat. nprcowboy 533 Posted November 9, 2014 Yeah it seems like walking helps me burp but not with the stomach pain/gas. I get doubled over in pain when I lay down or on recliner leaned back then while trying to resr I can't as I have to go to the bathroom when I get those cramps. Isn't days haven't been able to just relax when I sit. That when the gas starts moving around on me
nprcowboy 533 Posted November 9, 2014 I'm also curious outside of gas pain where does everyone have their surgery pain or soreness? I have bad paid and tenderness on my right belly/abdomen. Nowhere else. How long before that goes away? See at its worst today
Frienztodaend 1 Posted November 10, 2014 I was sleeved on the 5th, and my gas pain really subsided today. I have yet to have a BM. I too have severe pain on my right side, my pain today is better overall, except for the right side. I have been walking quite a bit a that has helped with the gas. alwaysvegas 702 Posted November 10, 2014 I had a bit of soreness where the drain was located and tenderness with the largest incision where they pulled the stomach out. All other incisions just felt like typical scraps healing, so if I twisted one it twinged a bit. I did take some liquid Hyrdocodone the first few days back from the hospital just in case, but stopped taking within 5 days of surgery. I'd say the discomfort diminished drastically the first week and by the second week I was feeling only very mild soreness.
nprcowboy 533 Posted November 10, 2014 What you do for nausea, that's my biggest issue as its preventing me from getting fluids down
brazos2425 34 Posted November 10, 2014 Ask your Doc for Zofran, or you can try Emmetrol for the nausea, the belch puke thing went away for me yesterday. Oh and flavor your Water It makes me nauseated even with the Zofran. My gas pain has settled in my upper left shoulder blade area. Heating pad and walk it out. I do gas X strips when my belly gets the gurgles going. My surgery was Thursday, Nov 6th I'm starting to come around. Good Luck!!
