Ate my first egg this morning, think I am doing ok?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be two weeks post op and today I started my mushy phase. I was excited and nervous.

Made myself a scrambled egg with a little 2% cheddar cheese on it. I was able to eat the whole thing, chewing slowly in about 15 minutes. It felt different going down than the shakes and liquids did, but it sure was yummy!! My stomach feels full, it feels a little different than it did after the shakes or broth. I am just sitting down for a while letting it settle before I drink some unsweetened ice tea with unflavored Protein in it and take my walk.

I was expecting to only be able to eat half of the egg though?? I am not worried though, I am quite happy that I was able to eat it ok. I am going to try turkey and swiss rolled up for lunch and then the ricotta bake for dinner. We will see how the rest of the day goes. And of course in between I will be drinking my Water.< /p>

I am just so blessed and happy that my recovery has gone the way it has so far. I only had trouble with one Protein shake I tried not sitting well with me, (but I didn't throw up) other than that all the shakes and Soups went down really well. I find I can drink my water at more reasonable rate, I don't have to take such little sips anymore. That I like. So I am hoping in this next phase I do as well.

Come on Sherman (that is what my daughter named my new stomach) together we can do this!! :)

I could eat a whole egg too, and it left me satisfied but not too full :) You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

eggs were one of the toughtest foods for Frankesleeve to readjust to. Scrambled eggs seem to be a slider food for me, but hard boiled eggs are filling and I'm not able to eat as much. I didn't realize it at first, but chicken was one of the toughest things for me to digest.

Congrats on your NSV and doing so well.

That's awesome. Thanks pretty helpful advice for who is impatiently waiting for my sleeve. Kinda like naming the whole new stomach thing. I have 8 Grandkids I'm sure would be happy to help. Lol

I began "mushy" this past week and it's been great. I've been eating Turkey Chili and chicken Tortilla Soup with unflavored Protein added. It has been wonderful. By the way, my new tummy's name is "Nikki" :)

I started my pureed/soft diet as well. The first time I had an egg I ate it too fast and I couldn't finish it. The second time, I took my time and it went down well. I've been eating chicken salad as well and there hasn't been a problem. I'm surprised how well foods are going down. As long as eat slowly, then my sleeve is a happy sleeve.

Congrats on your progress!

Sounds like you're doing wonderfully well! Congratulations!

I've stuck with egg whites since surgery, but that was just my preference for less fat. I find that if I don't overcook the whites and/or add a tablespoon or two of cottage cheese and keep it moist, my tummy likes it even more.

Well the whole day today surprised me! I had a piece of turkey and 2% milk piece of provolone rolled up and dipped the last half in very very little mustard just for flavor. It was pretty yummy, I got the whole thing done but it did fill me up.

Tonight for dinner I made 1/2 of a recipe for baked ricotta and had 1/4 of what I made. It was so yummy yummy and went down pretty well and filled me up.

I did have a glass of unsweetened ice tea toady with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder too. And then a little later after dinner I just wanted something that was yummy not just ok or tolerable. So I had an 8oz glass of 1% milk with sugar free Hershey's Syrup. Got another 9 grams of Protein in and it was delicious!!!

I felt like I had a really really good day today. Totals were 62grams of protein and 72oz of liquids. My calories were 492 and I did an hour on the treadmill and got 2.53 miles out of it.

Just gonna keep taking it one day at a time!!! Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op!!

Do you have recipes you can share for your Turkey Chili and chicken Tortilla Soup? I will be starting the pureed diet on the 26th...2 weeks post op and I am having a hard time finding some good recipes. Thanks

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
