Hey Pacupatty,

I am 64 and hoping for insurance approval. I have just begun the 6 month supervised diet. I sure wish I was done with that and approved. I really want to be able to walk without the breathlessness.

I hope you do well and will be looking forward to your posts.

Karen

hi newlife, i had to do 6 mos also. I have UHC in NY. my sugeon was ablt to get by with 5 mos documentation. Isnt it sad that we have fail on another diet for 6 mos? If we could diet and keep it off we wouldnt need the surgery ;) I am 10 days post-op and finally feeling better. I believe younger people do better post-operatively, but here I am. Down 14 lbs already. Dont have any appwetite and making sure I get my 80-90 grams of Protein every day.

Hello. I'm 57 and had my surgery on May 31. Too bad that I was not aware and the procedure was not available years ago. I have oster-arthritis and that is all, but other problems were just over the horizon. I know that, and consider myself to be most lucky.

I'm 19 and got mine done 3 days ago.

Allthough I haven't recieved any of the blessings yet, I'm glad that I did it now

Because right now, I'm not in bad health, no medical issues, heart rate returns to normal quickly after exersise. But I knew that if I didn't take this weight off, it would start to affect(effect, oh jesus, i dunno, lol) my health.

Plus, I've allready wasted so many years of my life being fat, why waste more

And, purplegirl

I hope everything goes a-ok for you and you get your surgery

I sure know that being over weight in high school sucks!

I wish I had the opportunity when i was 16...loose all the wieght before college! It'll be like starting a new life!!

Ps. Nice birthday, I'm october 17th!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
