JCP 619 Posted November 9, 2014 My first time eating out in 10 weeks. It was a funeral for my uncle and they all decided to go to Luby's afterward. (Lots of elderly family... Luby's is a popular cafeteria chain in Texas for those not familiar with it.) Saw my old favorites: fried chicken, cabbage, spinach, and chocolate ice box pie. Looked so good! But of course I didn't dare. Got 1/2 of a baked skinless chicken breast and ate 3 bites. I will miss Luby's....
FrankyG 1,450 Posted November 9, 2014 So sorry for your family's loss. So why couldn't you have spinach or other basic veggies like cabbage or broccoli with the chicken? (I get no mac and cheese or fried stuff) I don't mind Luby's (love their veggies and the baked whitefish) so I'll probably still eat out, but it will be a few bites of a Luann platter and make sure I get a to go box and have meals for days! ;D

VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted November 9, 2014 "I will miss Luby's." I don't understand why relatively new VSG patients (10 weeks out) think that what they are able to eat now is ALL they will ever be able to eat for the rest of their lives. Six months from now, a year from now, two years from now ... we'll be able to eat a much broader array of foods (and more) than we can eat now. That doesn't mean we SHOULD eat as much as we could possibly eat then (and that's a WHOLE other topic), but we'll certainly be able to do so.
