Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've come up here. I was sleeved on August 4th 2014. My starting weight pre - op was 224lbs, as of this morning, I am not 172lbs. Honestly I've been messing up pretty bad. Although my portions have been pretty small about 3-4 oz per meal, I've basically been eating what ever I want. It's been pretty difficult to get in the swing of things; with school, a baby, wifely duties, etc. I've worked out a few times since I was physically able. I haven't seen my surgeon in over a month. (I have no idea why they haven't called me back to reschedule) anyways I'm just feeling like a failure.im not sure if I should be losing more. I know I need to choose healthier options and fit in am exercise routine. Anybody feel the way I've been feeling? Any any encouragement or tips would be appreciated. Thanks. Sorry for the long post. ;)

messing up pretty bad. eating what ever I want.

@@APURNELL

welcome back - we missed you!!!!

i think being on the board reinforces our new life in sleeveland

"reminds" us of what we should be doing

eating whatever you want???

KNOCK IT OFF!!! ;)

i can't imagine how hard it is to keep such a busy lifestyle/schedule while watching your eating habits too!!

not that this helps you much - but i know other people like you somehow manage to do "everything"

my hat is off to everyone with a family/kids/work/school etc. etc

it must be very hard to do, but you can do it

as far as your surgeon goes............

keep bugging his office

i think its terrible they haven't returned your calls

next time you call, emphasize that their are problems and you must speak to doc ASAP !!!!

"remind" the office that you have tried to call doc on several occassions

never returns your calls

Do you have an "official" NUT??

if not will insurance help pay to see one

even a couple times would help you

"tomorrow" go back to basics with Protein shakes only

that will give you a head start on weight loss

whenever you "might" think of eating something you shouldn't DON'T DO IT!!!

remember i'm watching you!!

good for you that you know what to eat, portions etc

but your situation/weight loss won't happen as long as you graze, eat whatever you want

put a lid on it  ;)

choosing the sleeve, doing your research

i can tell you are a smart cookie :)

Its easier said than done but you must stop eating all that crappp -NOW

force yourself to start to follow the rules again

do you remember them all?

these are the basic rules i can think of

drink 64 oz of Water a day

stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat

never, ever, ever drink with your meals

people have been shot for less :o

don't drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat

small bites

eat very slowly

chew thoroughly

protein first

chicken, fish, cheese, egg

cottage cheese - yogurt

watch your carb intake

measure ALL your food

keep track of EVERYTHING you eat

be honest!!

maybe use MFP

since you are returning to eating properly

my opinion only....(covering my small assss  )

after you stop doing the Protein Shakes

maybe daily eat 700-800 calories a day for awhile to help you loose more weight

choosing to have WLS/sleeved shows you are a smart cookie :)

remember - when you least expect it, i will peak in on you :D

take care bud

you can do this, i know you can

good luck

kathy

Awwww man thanks Kathy!!! This helps so much. And you're right, I need to get a grip. I've fallen into the trap of doing what's convenient. And I'll definitely bug my Dr's office tomorrow. I didn't come this far to go back to where I was pre-op. Thanks again!!! :-)

I hope you aren't so bummed. 52 pounds in 3 months is super. Especially with the lower starting weight.

I was 190 preOp on June 10 surgery on 17th and today 146. That's 44 pounds in 5 months.

So hats off to you. I too eat what I want and I'm trying real hard to add in the exercise. I think you need this forum. The posts are helpful and encouraging.

Maybe what you are missing is the ability to share your day in and day out with others on the same journey.

I agree, 52 pounds in 3 months... why the heck are you bummed? It's nice being able to eat what ever you want. Are you still hoping to lose more weight?

Do a food diary! Seriously for me it's not as much about the calories as it is being accountable for what I eat. I use my fitnesspal because I can do it online and on my phone. On good days I start out and plan each meal. On not so good days I simply make sure to record everything I eat. Again I'm not looking at calories. I know I can only have ~800 a day. I'm also looking at my carbs, sugar, fat and sodium. It also records your Water.

Secondly find a way to get in exercise. Even if it's just taking the baby for a walk.

Make a plan of attack and at the end of each week revisit that plan and see what adjustments need to be made.

HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE!

I wish you well.

3 months and over 50lbs down. You should be proud of that. you are doing great.

Just some info for thought...

What motivated you to have surgery? Go back to those thoughts. Try on some clothing from your high weight.

Stages of change:

Preparation: The person has decided on action, and is making the steps necessary to prepare themselves for action.

Action: The person is engaging in actions intended to bring about change.

Maintenance: The challenge is to sustain the change accomplished by previous action, and to prevent relapse.

Relapse: If a relapse occurs, the individuals task is to start the process of change again rather getting stuck in relapse.

If you are in a relapse phase make sure you're self talk is positive and realistic. Start the process of change again. Find your motivation. Its easy to get into all or nothing mentality and give up or let yourself get comfortable instead of fighting for your goal.

No one is perfect. Its how you respond when things get hard that matters.

Good luck on you're journey!

Wow. Thanks everyone. I agree, staying on this forum will help hold me accountable and keep me motivated. I guess I felt overwhelmed keeping it all in to myself. I'm grateful to God that I'm able to talk with people who are in the same boat. I'll definitely try that fitness app as well. I schedule everything else in my life. Why not schedule and keep better track of my eating. Thanks again guys. I didn't expect to get so much help so quick.

50lbs in 3 months is totally on par! I'm with a large group of women that all had surgery the same time. 80% are big time low carb and work out people and some of us are not. My doc didn't require me low carb and I'm right on par loss wise with everyone else. Sure there are a few that are losing faster, but there are also some losing slower. Just reminds you everyone is different. 50 in 3 months though is probably where we all were at 3 months, if not better!

Stop stressin, your doing great! :)

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
