Hello, I am having the sleeve surg on Dec. 3. On the third day Post op I start my full liquid diet. My paperwork says I can have strained cream Soups. I HATE creamed soups. I need ideas on what to eat in replace of those. What kinds of food did you all eat?

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

@@Susan909 Hi, I'm on that now. That's a hard one because the only thing I am allowed are all the clears and cream Soup pudding and cream of wheat. Do you like cream of wheat? There are soooooo many cream Soups out there are you sure you Don't like any of them? I didn't even realize how many until I had to buy some. We got cheddar cheese, cream chicken and herb (which to me taste like thanksgiving, my daughter says chicken dumplings) Cream of shrimp ect....do you not like them or is it the texture?

Thanks for asking . It's the taste and texture..... Even the smell gags me.

I do like Cream of Wheat tho.

How are you feeling? Have you been hungry?

@@Susan909 No I don't really feel hunger but I eat and drink because I know I have too. I don't dislike what I am eating I just don't have that desire for food as of now. Do you like French onion Soup?

@@Susan909 and of course I don't eat the cream Soup straight out of the can I do dilute it with Water plus I add some unflavored Protein Powder to it. It's too strong to eat just straight.

I loved all my cream Soup options, but other things I drank were drinkable yogurt, diluted and pureed split pea soup, Protein Shakes doctored with Mio and Dasani flavor drops, PB2, pureed peaches and mangos, and Torani syrups (nearly unlimited flavor options) . I also added unflavored Protein powder to..... French onion soup base, miso soup, egg drop soup, lobster bisque, beef broth, chicken broth, Swansons tortilla soup base, hot and sour soup base.

Me too....getting sleeved on the 3rd that is! I have heard that tastes change after surgery so I got powdered vanilla Protein, several sugar free Toranis and some unflavored Protein powder...hoping I can get through what amounts to a month on liquids with the variety...

I didn't do a lot of cream Soups. I did some, but I also did keifir, some Protein shakes, yogurt and cottage cheese. I made oatmeal using the Protein Shakes, miso Soup with bits of tofu and grits with a bit of cheese added in.

Try out different things and see what you do like.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
