Exercise can be an important part of your weight loss surgery routine. It burns calories and helps you maintain lean muscle to boost metabolism. It also helps you stay disciplined so you can make better diet choices the rest of the day. People have different approaches to getting in their daily exercise. When do you exercise?

Generally I work out on weekdays after work. On weekends whenever - typically early afternoon. I try to go in the mornings on the weekend but my body says nope. And on weekdays I am not going to get up earlier than I do to workout. I'm not a morning person. LOL.

I like to workout early in the morning. However, I would have to be up at 4:30am to get my workout in before work and I am NOT a morning person so I usually go after work. Weekends, days off, and vacation days, I try to get it in early. Makes me feel better AND, it leaves the rest of the day open to whatever else I want/need to do.

I get up at 4:30 am most weekdays to do an 80 minute hot yoga class...I truly miss it the days I take off.

I attend lunchtime Jazzercise classes (cardio and strength training) weekdays, 5-mile early morning walks plus yard work and/or house cleaning on weekends.

If I don't get it done in the morning, it doesn't get done. Cardio at 5 am on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and weights Tuesday, Thursday at the gym (around 6 am).

Weekends try to get in at least one fun active thing -- dancing to my favorite band, long brisk walks in a park somewhere, riding bikes or maybe a 5k.

I don’t have a set schedule. I get it in when I get it in.

Exercise is so important, though I would love to be able to get it done in the morning most days it's impossible. I have a hairy schedule most of the time, so fitting it in when I am able to is the best way for me. Some days it's after work, some day's it's early morning or after noon for a lunch break.

On the weekends the same applies. There are some days when I can get to the gym early in the morning and others where I can't get there until the afternoon. If I can't make it to the gym I'll work out at home or take the dogs for a nice long walk as long as there is some movement going on I'm happy!

I'm almost exactly the same as Forsythia. NOT a morning person. After work is perfect because it does help me unwind. I go at least once every weekend - but only after sleeping in and having some nice relaxation time. Usually afternoon - sometimes even early evening, depending on the day's plans.

I usually exercise in the late afternoons during the week and in the morning on weekends. I'm excited, I just rejoined a gym today!

Morning and directly after work on my way home. Different types of exercise though. I run into energy issues if I try lifting weights in the morning. I'll get very queazy if I try before 10ish. Morning is my preference though, so that's when I do my cardio, and I do my best.

Doing the grocery shopping is about all the exercise I can handle right now. My left knee is bone on bone and I'm off of my arthritis med's for 4 weeks prior to surgery and 4 weeks post surgery. I do try and get in the pool from time to time, weather permitting, and swim a few laps. I hope to start getting some regular exercise in probably after I get my anti inflammatory arthritis meds back and have dropped 25-30 pounds. I'll just have to see how it goes. Hubby belongs to a gym so hopefully it won't be too long before I'm brave enough to go with him.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
