I have this fear of being at work or at a business lunch and getting stuck or throwing up/PBing. I'm only a few days on the other side but does anyone have any advice? Should I only eat Soup at business lunches for a while? Should I keep extra clothes at work in case I throw up or slime on myself? If I PB would I throw up at the table or would I know it's coming and get to the bathroom?

It's one of those irrational fears especially since I haven't told anyone at work except for one friend.

Any advice appreciated.

I keep a set of clothes in my car just in case of anything & since you are in the early stages I would eat very lightly , I have heard people ask servers to remove their glasses from the table , I for one don't even drink before or after my meals for at least a 1/2 hour & have learned to always ask for a box so when I get my stop signal & know I am not going to finish I can take the rest home either for the next day or someone in my family can have it, also since I don't do starchy foods like potatoes, rice or things like that I will ask for extra veggies or Protein instead if they don't have a option then I just give it to someone else & let them enjoy just remember how much YOUR surgeon suggested you should have on eating so don't worry too much.

I can usually tell when something is stuck before the slime starts so it does give me time to get to the bathroom, if needed. The PBing and sliming associated with something stuck in your band are not like violent projectile vomiting episodes that you might have with gastrointestinal illnesses. I never worry about taking extra clothes or choosing different foods due to the company I keep. Then again, I don't mind that people know I have the band either. If you're really worried, then sure, keep it light until you and your band have had more time to get to know each other. Soup would be a good choice in those situation. Just be careful not to get into the habit of eating soup all the time because it is a slider food and won't keep you feeling full the way more solid foods will.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
