Half way there.....what keeps you motivated?

Finding this thread was such good timing today. I've been stuck in a stall for almost a month. I know I shouldn't worry about it that much, since I know I am doing everything I'm supposed to. I've started walking regularly and this week I can routinely walk a mile - with my bad knees & discs in my back I know how big a deal that is. It was just a dream 6 months ago.

My husband tells me how proud he is of me, which is wonderful. I took measurements this week and truly enjoyed those numbers! Sometimes it's just hard to keep those negative worries from creeping in...maybe this is all there is....maybe I won't be able to lose the weight with this either. Thankfully, coming here helps keep those worries at bay and keeps me motivated. So, thank you to everyone for their input here - you never know who your comments may help! Good luck to all.

great thread! I definitely find it's harder to keep losing now that I am 4.5 months post-surgery. I have to just remind myself to stick the fundamentals- Protein first, no drinking before or after food, and (hardest for me) no grazing!

What still motivates you?

@@tomi71

sounds realllly corny.......

waking up feeling happy :)

"checking" myself out in the mirror

realizing and saying

wow i look good ;)

enjoying/hearing compliments :)

realizing where i am now with my life

remembering my old life

(i don't dwell on it, but sometimes i do think about it

thrilled that life has taken a 360

all my health issues gone!!!

being "brave" meeting other people

i can never, ever go backwards

forward is the only direction i know ;)

loving my present

excited about my future :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
