OK, Now I'm EXCITED!

Recommended Posts

My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork on Wednesday (2 months early) to see if I could get approved. I have completed all my pre-op requirements for insurance, except I am supposed to have 6 months of supervised diet visits with the doctor, and I only have 4.

My surgeon's office just called me and said I GOT APPROVED!!!!

Now I want to jump up and down and scream H A L L E L U J A H!!! I already had a tentative date for December 16th, but they are going to call me on Monday to confirm a solid date, and maybe even be able to get me in for surgery sooner!

OMG!!!! It's really going to happen!!!!!! :D :) :D :) :D

Congratulations!!! I'm excited for you and now am getting a lil anxious. Did you ask the nurse to submit your paperwork early? I want to try to do the same thing. I'm doing 3 months but as of next week will be only 1 month. I've completed all the ins requirements. I guess it won't hurt to try. What ins do u have?

@Ladiec2 I have United Healthcare Community of Maryland. At my 4 month visit (insurance required 6) I had all of my pre-op requirements for both the insurance company and my doctor completed except for the last 2 months of supervised diet visits. During that appointment my doctor mentioned how stupid it was they everything was done and the only thing I had left was to come visit her 2 more times. She said we should submit it early and see what happened. She and I both felt it would more than likely be denied, but what the heck was it going to hurt to give it a shot. So we did! And lo and behold, less than 48 hours after they submitted my paperwork, I got approved, 2 months early!

Nothing beats a failure but a try!

@GreenEyes604. I hear you girl. When I was given my surgery date I simply began living in the future! July 18th was just etched in my subconscious. I acted normal on the outside, or I would like to believe I did, but I became consumed with my upcoming surgery, and of course all the emotions that came with it. I wish you all the very best.

@@GreenEyes604

and now the excitement begins :)

i see you have been a member on the boards for a short time

continue to read all the posts

"listen" closely to the answers

ask your many questions

get prepped for certain things you will have to do for the rest of your life

i always say/think the Water rules are the most important

stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat

never drink with meal

don't drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat

drink at least 64 oz

i know this is a lot to "swallow" LOL

i know you will be successful :)

eat Proteins first

limit your carbs

chew food thoroughly into teeny pieces

take small bites

eat very slowly

put utensil down between bites

put your food on a small plate

ALWAYS measure your food

other things too

follow all the rules that you are given by your NUT & doc :)

good luck

kathy

congrats

Congratulations!!! I would love for my surgeon's office to submit my paperwork next week. I just may ask! I was only required 3 months and I could still keep my last appointment but if he submits it next week I just might be able to have my surgery before the year is out!! After I do my ultrasound Monday and my psych eval (maybe Monday, they are walk-in) in do e with all but the last nutrition appt.

Pray all goes well with your surgery! Congrats again!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
