MattLAustin 21 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) I had my final meeting with my surgeon and she is sending my stuff off for final approval. I should be having surgery in 4 to 5 weeks. I did think it was odd that my doc said she didn't think I could get to goal weight of 210 with lapband. I weigh 437. She said I'd probably weigh 300. I'm going to work damn hard to prove her wrong. Bmjohnson 84 Posted November 7, 2014 You can do anything you put your mind to. You can read success stories on this site of men and women who weighed over 400 that have lost hundreds. Lap-band is slower but is well worth it. you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck.
KarenWB 20 Posted November 7, 2014 I think your surgeon is right. I had my surgery in February of this year and have only lost about 45 lbs. Lap band is SLOW. My doctor warned me. I wish I had listened and had the sleeve instead. Good Luck, tho!
Bandista 7,466 Posted November 7, 2014 Matt, congratulations on getting through the hoops -- exciting! I love my band and am so happy with my weight loss. I was only 250 going in to the process but there are lots of people who have lost hundreds with their bands. Check out the thread Banders #6 -- it's a great place for support from people who have had a lot of success. I wish I was tech-savy enough to connect you here with some great guys who have done so well. That's what I did when I was researching -- found the people who are really successful and read their posts. Jim1967, B52, Carolina Girl -- like I said, check out that Banders thread. And that way you can avoid any nay-sayers. Don't need that kind of pre-surgery crap!
