catdaddy 232 Posted November 7, 2014 What does her doctor say? I am not a doctor but yes this can be all part of weight loss surgery. My doctor says I have to take 36 to 45 mg of Iron everyday for the rest of my life. If I was a woman menstruating or at risk of anemia take up to 100 mg of total elemental iron per day. This is a quote out of my weight loss surgery guide. Other doctors could recommend different quantities but I'm sure all doctors tell all their patients they have to take iron suppliments. This is one of the many vitamine bariatric patients must take.
MsUjima 109 Posted November 7, 2014 Blood sugar issues are not a part of gastric bypass - she should see her doctor about diabetes.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted November 7, 2014 Some individuals that undergo gastric bypass surgery have experienced Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar. Generally diabetics who suffer from high blood sugar have diabetes go into remission after surgery. I do not know if a lack of Iron is related to the surgery. It may be a factor of aging or a factor that those that undergo the surgery have their blood work put under a magnifying glass and any deficiencies are quickly identified.
