Hey there everyone,

Hope everyone's day is going well. So I am 4 months post op for gastric sleeve. I have lost a total of 66 lbs and have 56 to go to get to my ultimate goal. Yay!

I have since the surgery had no problems with getting hungry at all or eating. For the past week I have gotten hungry at my normal times but when I get the food I am not hungry anymore. For example, today I bought a salad and took 2 bites. After those two bites it felt like I was full already to the point of having that feeling of food going up. I have been able to go all day with out eating anything. Has anyone had that problem and if so what helped you. My doctor said if I am not hungry don't eat. He said even if I have not eaten anything all day. I feel weird doing that. I do not want to starve myself. Any advice.?

Well I haven't had my surgery yet, but your absolutely correct in saying you don't want to starve yourself....but that is what you are doing if you don't eat. Your body is geared to survive on food and Water...without that..could cause body organs to shut down...try to at least get something in your system on a daily basis including hydrating with Water.< /p>

if your not hungry...drink something with calories in it.....but by all means...don't NOT eat.

I went through that intermittently. I'd try to get nutrition in from home made Protein Shakes when I felt like that. I was scared I'd loose all my muscle and hair so I would just kind of make myself get the protien in!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
