@@BLERDgirl yes I was up walking just as soon as my eyes would stay open and I walked all day and night long. The nurses were very impressed with my dedication to walking but the reason I was so dedicated was about every lap I did I would get out a good burp which always made me feel so much better! I just got a little cup of Water to drink and the nurse said to take an hour to drink it I looked at it and thought no way will this take an hour lol I have 10 min left and just a little half way through it lol who knew

Hi, my sleeve date is Dec. 16 and I weigh 423. My doctor doesn't do the Protein liquid diet before surgery. They told me to start Atkins diet 2 weeks before surgery to help shrink my liver. I'm excited and nervous.

I'm required to do liquid for two weeks but I really feel like Atkins would be the smarter choice. I'm sure I will have a constant headache on the liquid. Congrats. .so excited for you!

I'm pretty sure my doctor does 2 weeks of Optifast pre-surgery and then about 3 weeks after? I am not sure what else is included in that other than shakes. In the past I have done a juice "fast" and never felt hunger/headaches/stomachaches on it so I am optimistic that it will be a breeze to get through the pre-surgery bit. Still waiting for a surgery date. (Impatiently, I might add.)

Good luck. Did you just get your surgery date? I still haven't gotten one. Congrats on already getting down 20 lbs! I am sure you'll drop plenty more on the pre-op diet. Keep us posted.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
