my surgery date is NOVEMBER 24!!!!

and it has been paid in full today :) I have started my pre op diet (ugh) so far im experiencing nausea after my shakes (they are EXTREMLY nutrient dense) and dizziness. im getting about a total of 45 carbs/ day that's including my veggies and shakes and total about 800 cals max..

im feeling pretty good. my heart seems to be much calmer (no sugar rushes!!)

what did u shop for pre and post op?

were u nervous when it became "official"????

did u fear the "what ifs"??? <<<< I am big time, does this mean I shouldn't do surgery?

I have 3 weeks until my life changed forever. I cant help but wonder if ill be that " rare" one that dies or has some sort of cardiac arrest or anything....cant help but think about the bad.....

And im thinking "what if I try again? (even tho ive tried toooo many times) what if I just didn't try hard enough before?? (god knows I have!!)

as I lay here, feeling like crap from the pre op diet.....im discouraged :( any advice, good vibes, encouragement, assurance would do WONDERS for me right now. and I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH, thank you.

Hi There.. i am going through the same struggles are you. I am scheduled for surgery on Nov 18th. While i am drinking all these Protein shakes and dreading them, i'm thinking to myself "geez if i can do this then why can't i lose on my own?" The truth is i have tried before and i know i can't thats why i need to push through and have the surgery. I'm just trying to keep a positive mindset and take it day by day. My devotional today was really good and hopefully it encourages you too:

I can do all things through christ who strengthens me. - Phillipians 4:13

Hang in there.. we can do this! :-)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
