Did surgery mess up your cycle at all?? I started my period just days after surgery although it was about 1 1/2 early. I contributed it to stress on my body.... Now I am supposed to be starting my next cycle, but I'm 4 days late. WHO KNOWS??? I hate to post such personal things on here, but I couldn't find any research on it. If it doesn't start soon, I will just call my GP. Just curious if any other women had anything similar.

I had the same problem I started a few days after surgery and it was weird for me because I was already irregular, but as the months go on it starts to get back on a regular schedule just be prepared because mine just started late and jeez I was not ready for that but yea totally normal Lol :)

I'm decidedly regular. No issues with shark week coming early or late since my sleeve.

I started five days after surgery, which was 10 days early from my regular cycle. My cycles have been quite regular for the past 3 years, so this puzzled me as well. I had to go through a detox program 13 years ago because I was addicted to prescription painkillers. It was a terribly stressful experience. I didn't have my period for two months. When family members have died, it also made me go without a period for a month. It just seems odd that surgery (which is also stressful) makes me have my period

so early. Nevertheless, I do believe that extreme stress messes up your cycle.

When I was in my last year of college, I had a living situation in which I shared a small house with eight other people. There were five of us girls sharing one bedroom. Within 5 months, all five of us had menstral cycles during the same days of every month. I always found that very odd.

Is there any chance you could be pregnant? I have heard the fertility shoots up just after surgery. Not to scare you but that was the first thing that came to mind. :P

I would love to be preg although it's too soon... I'm "old" and if we are going to conceive again, it needs to be soon!!! I'm not preg tho, unless something happened in the middle of the night while I was asleep... LOL

I started my period during my pre-op diet even though I'm on the depo shot which prevents my period all month long. Its weird but I'm chalking it up to my body going through so much change in a short period.

Ok everybody, calm down... Lol My nurses warned me beforehand that cycles become irregular after the surgery but will return regular. Just like a lot of us have become hypersensitive/moody because of the hormonal changes in our bodies. Also extremely low fat diets will throw off or delay periods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
