Mood Swings?!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Since being banded...

Im ..."fertile"..twice a month now, with all that implies...but even more bizzaar (because im usually a very funny, upbeat person my friends would describe me as happy and gets along with everyone) is that IM NOT THAT NOW. I go from one minute all "oh i love my northern new england town and singing 'life in a northern town' " while walking to "oh my god its fecking cold and i fecking hate everythign about this." and little things which never USED to get to me, get to me BIGTIME.

I lost my fecking ipod this morning that i usually take to the gym..and i blew a gasket! Im hold up right now privately so i can get my mood in check before going back to the house and searching for it again where i will be around other people. This morning i was near throwing things because i was out of vanilla slim fast. lol.

Now that i read it , its funny ...but at the time it sure wasnt.

ANYONE ELSE GOING THROUGH THIS???

Ha! I know exactly what you mean! From what I've been told it's due to hormonal changes, as estrogen is stored in the female's fat cells. Once those cells start to shrink the hormones are released and you end up with an excess of estrogen.

I get my period twice a month and I'm on birth control. It's annoying but my gynecologist said that will stop once my weight stabilizes.

Yet another one of the "side effects" they forgot to tell us about! LOL!

Wow, no wonder my periods have been so strange. I thought the change was coming! Talk about major PMS. Sheesh. I did some retail therapy today and the clerk brought me a medium in the changing room. It didn't fit but it was nice to think that that was the size she picked for me. I did find a whole lot on sale in Large (no x's or xx) I'm on my way.

hey annie, congrats on the nsv!

and thank god im not the only one going through this. I JUST turned 39 and thought i was going through "the change" early too. You know though it DOES make sense to get on the pill to try to control it. Libra, thanks for that idea, ill probably go in and see what i can do. maybe because of the extra estrogen the pill you were taking isnt strong enough anymore? Im definitely going to go in and find out if i can get on them.

we only have so many eggs. when they go, they go...and rapid fire shooting isnt doin me any good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
