Hair today, gone tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am 3 1/2 months out and am losing hair like crazy. I take Biotin, use Nexion Shampoo and conditioner, get all my Protein in, all my Vitamins and use a protein treatment. I have tried just about everything they say to do. Hair coming out by the brush full daily. My hair is thin anyway and I am looking older than heck now. UGH.... Any other suggestions?

I just talked to my hairdresser today about this same thing. She suggested Biotin, which you are already taking. She also advised me to drink a cup of tea with a tablespoon of organic coconut oil and some honey to taste twice a day. She also says that she does a coconut oil hair treatment once a week. Couldn't hurt.

@@bobbyswife is correct. Just don't get any sewn in weaves while shedding is taking place; it'll cause severe matting.

I heard somewhere to take 10000 mcg of Biotin. Are you at least getting 5,000? Seems like you are doing everything. Wigs sound like fun!

I am only a week out from surgery but I am actually looking forward to wigs, I have short hair right now and I think it would be so fun to have a longer hair style. Don't know where to start on the wig thing. I have looked online but they look cheap. Any ideas?

Omg, loosing my hair has totally freaked me out. Loosing the pounds on the other hand has made it easier to accept. My job requires me to have my hair pulled up so my ponytail has gotten real small and you can see all the new hairs standing straight up. I'm just hoping they all don't come in gray. Lol. I take all the Vitamins and supplements, get the required Protein in and drink my Water. It's one of those risks we have to deal with.

I've had a lot of falling hair in the 2 months post-op. It was getting scary to see so much come out. After having long hair since my twenties, I decided to go short in the hopes it would slow down the loss. I donated my braid. Here's a little before and after, and the hair I lost...post-231371-14165330311938_thumb.jpg post-231371-14165330454773_thumb.jpg post-231371-14165330595107_thumb.jpg post-231371-14165330740013_thumb.jpg

@@Jordan861 I'm only two weeks out but my fingers are crossed because I'm 26 years old and would really like to keep my hair...mine too is thick and curly, and I'm using special Shampoo with Biotin and collagen, getting 65g of Protein per day, and taking hair skin and nail Vitamins with biotin daily. I'm also trying to be really careful about combing, trying to be really gentle!

i would stay away from extentions. The extra tension on the hair. ....IMO

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
