I know everyone's rate of losing weight is different but I'm wondering if anyone saw a loss the first month.

Just joined this site. Nice to have an idea what to expect. I am 10 days post op and today was my first day of mushy foods. I had a lot of nausea for the first week and dropped 10 pounds very quickly. Been the same for the past 3 days, which is good, because I actually feel good today.

Hi all, wanted to give you an update. I had my second fill this past Thursday at 1cc so now I'm at 5cc. I'm definitely feeling the restriction. I'm down 5 more lbs since then. I started lifting weights and doing cardio 4x's a week now and I cannot believe how much energy I have. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a jolt of energy?

That's great!!! Way to go!!!! I definitely had a jolt of energy after being banded, and major confidence boost once I started losing, which helped with the energy even more!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

I went from a size 24 to a size 14 jean. I haven't tried anything smaller just yet but it's always so exciting to see that smaller size! Congrats :)

Best of luck to you! I hope all goes well with your surgery and recovery. Thank goodness my doc requires 1 week liquid diet. I may be dreading that part the most. Lol

I continue to have problems with meat and I'm 4 months and a week post explant of my LapBand and conversion to RNY gastric bypass. After 3 months I had to go to liquids and soft for a few weeks then gradually try barely done chicken, now I can also tolerate shrimp, crab so long as there is additional sauce and I eat very slow. I don't have much hunger feeling although when I see foods advert I Ed, they sure look good. I do best if I avoid all bread? ???????. I so miss that! I have had a terrible time getting enough fluids in daily, nothing tastes good. Constipation is unbearable, complicated by having chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain. The narcotics are wicked on the gut. My peristalsis is about as active as I feel like being... I just want to sleep and wake up to no pain. I suppose my mantra is do as much as you can to move forward.

On a good note, I have gone from a size 20 to a 12, lost 82 lbs since starting the journey 12/29/2010. With a 50 lbs regain and loss 2012->2014. That regain was so defeating, I'm bound and determined to not let that happen again! Good luck to us all!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
