Typical day of diet- is this right?

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 weeks out today and I'm on regular food with some restrictions. I'm supposed to get 80 G Protein and 64 oz Water. I get the protein in with no problem. I eat only off the list my NUT gave me. I'm going to post a typical day and please tell me if this looks right. I've lost 33 lbs so far but 18 of it was on pre op. Just thought it would be coming off faster.

Here goes:

Breakfast- GNC lean 25 shake

Snack- hard boiled egg

Lunch- 1.5 oz ground meat made into a meatball with a tbsp low sugar marinara

Snack- 2 tablespoons hummus and a piece of low fat cheese (laughing cow)

Dinner- 2 oz ground meat with taco seasoning and a sprinkle of fat free cheese

Snack- high protein sugar free pudding or another piece of cheese

Does this look right? I usually get between 600-800 calories. Usually right around 700. My NUT said 800-1000 but I've only gotten close to 800 once. Oh I walk for about 30 min a day. Thanks!!!!

Reading that made me hungry, lol. That sounds about right being 5 weeks out. I'm a year out and most days are about 1000-1200 calories although I got so sick of eggs and chicken that now I eat whatever I want (it's 95% healthy) and track everything on MyFitnessPal so I know I don't overdo it.

lol sorry!! Ok I'm glad this sounds ok. I track everything in my fitness also. I'm just so worried that this isn't going to work. I think because I'm around the loss of where I've always stalled on previous diets. I've never been able to loss more than 35 lbs and I'm right there.

That sounds about right. I am 3 1/2 months out and am unable to get more than 800 calories on a good day.

Looks good! You're getting the amount of Protein needed. Maybe have a higher calorie snack? A 100 calorie yogurt?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
