Mxmom740 9 Posted November 4, 2014 Hey there! I am 5 months post-op from my VSG and have hit my goal weight of 135 lbs. However, I have continued to lose weight & am now at 128 lbs. I'm starting to have some issues with my hair coming out (usually only when I'm brushing or washing it), but enough that it concerns me. Can I get some input on what Vitamins or supplements may help? What do others do in this situation? I live in a small town & have minimal access to shopping. Any good OTC vitamins out there? I feel good; I have a good appetite. I'm trying to eat more often since I can't eat more quantity.
Recycled 2,182 Posted November 4, 2014 Like you, I also inquired on here and did some research about what to take to help prevent hair loss. The recommendations I gathered were to take Biotin. So, I have been taking 5000mcg daily, for several months and to tell you the truth, I can't tell if it has made any difference or not. I know I have lost some hair. Would I have lost as much it I didn't take it?? Maybe, maybe not. I feel it can't hurt, so what the heck. From what I read, the consensus was.....it will grow back when you stop losing so much weight and transition into a higher calorie maintenance diet. So hopefully, time will tell. nikki9 70 Posted November 4, 2014 I heard that you should take about 10,000 of Biotin per day for the hair loss and that it should stop after about a year post op. If it doesn't then to check Iron levels.
