Jelko7t3 18 Posted November 4, 2014 I am on the cheap side, so I don't like to buy premade shakes. I have found that the blender and the shaker cup add quite a bit of air to the shake. Anyone have issues with this post op?
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted November 4, 2014 Yes. Here is how I solved it. If I want a cold shake, I still warm up about half of my liquid and mix the Protein powder into that. Do not exceed 140 degrees. Make it warm like the temp of baby bath Water. Take the mixed powder and liquid, and strain it. Then add the rest of your cold liquid and a couple of ice cubes. Syntrax mixes the best, but this works for powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and Isopure powders, too. Bufflehead 6,358 Posted November 4, 2014 I make mine with a hand (aka immersion or stick) blender - no foam, bubbles, or trapped air in the shake. Works like a charm.
bikrchk 1,313 Posted November 4, 2014 I'm not a fan of the premade shakes either and the blender does add air, the bottle, less so IMHO. I found that post op it was easier for me to get the Water based shake down so I switched to Syntrax Nectar Iced Lemon Tea mixed in a shaker bottle. If you let it sit for 5 minutes before drinking, then stir lightly the foam is pretty much gone.
Beni 1,484 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) I make the shake in the morning and refrigerate. By the time I need it, all the bubbles are gone and if there are any left, I skim them with a spoon. Edited November 4, 2014 by Beni
Murphy'sMama 20 Posted November 4, 2014 I use cold Water and a spoon ???? i originally used an immersion blender or a shaker type bottle.. There was ALWAYS bubbles / foam.. I find stirring the Protein in a large drinking glass with a spoon ( or fork) and it is relatively smooth.. Like chocolate water. This seems to work best for me. Kindle 8,667 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Ditto to beni . I make my shakes in the morning in a Blender Bottle. I always top it off with ice and that alone tends to get rid of a lot of the bubbles and foam. But it then sits in the fridge at work until I end up drinking it mid day. By then, even if I do reshake it (my Fiber supplement always settles out) it never bubbles up as much as when I first make it. As for early on when I was basically living on Protein shakes 2-3 times/day, it took me so long to drink them, the foam had plenty of time to dissipate, and whatever bubbles were left never bothered me. Beni 1,484 Posted November 5, 2014 Yes it takes me forever to drink my 4 oz of shake. I am 7 days out. This morning it took over an hour. Geez. But it makes me so full. Wow! My favorite drink right now is 50 /50 Water apple juice ( non sugar added) and ice. I place in in a wine glass and it feels like I'm drinking white wine, lol
