Sipping your drinks

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was just banded on Thursday, May 10th and so far feel great... I haven't had any pains so the pain medicine is still sitting in the kitchen :)

I do have a question though.. will we always be sipping drinks from now on?? I know this is something they tell us to do after surgery, but does that always continue?

Happy Monday everyone!

I was banded April 9th this year and still sip even though I don't have a fill yet.

Since I can really eat most things now, I try to sip and chew/chew to stay in practice. Your stomach will relax some after the swelling goes down from the surgery and you will be able to drink more quickly. I just think it's not a good idea to get into the bad habit of eating or drinking fast like we use to.

Its a good idea to sip rather than gulp I feel. But once the swelling goes down you can do some guling if needed (like if you are hot afer a walk outside). I actually use straws and always have even though I know a lot of people don't like them. They help me to sip rather than gulp for one thing and they also help me to get the liquid in my mouth rather than on my blouse.

kyethra - you cracked me up. I can totally relate to keeping things off the blouse. Things always seem to land on what I call "the shelf". I'm hoping when I lose weight, maybe things won't always land right there!

I was banded last September. I can moderately gulp liquids without a problem except first thing in the morning--it's slow sipping till about noon when things loosen up. liquids tend to back up on me, if I drink too fast. If I take too big a drink I have to wait till the pressure eases up before considering the next taste.

You'll see how you feel--your band is not embarrassed to let you know when you've done something to displease it.

Overall, slower and smaller is better--both with eating and drinking.

I seem to be able to drink a little more that I am a week PO... My Dr's office says I should continue to sip so I don't mess with the sutures around the band. Now I'm worried something might have happen.. GREAT.. I guess I'll start using a cup :(

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
